Gazzilli


After an opening 1 and a response of 1/1N, Gazzilli uses an artificial 2 bid with any of these hand shapes:

  • any 5-3-3-2
  • 5+ and 4+ Clubs with 11-16 HCP.
  • any shape with 17+ HCP.

Opener's bids after 1 - 1N:

  • 2         = Gazzilli (in next section)
  • 2/2   = natural, 11-16 HCP
  • 2        = 6+ Spades, 11-14 HCP
  • 2N -  ... = 6 Spades + another 4-card suit and 17+ HCP. Alertable.
    •  ...  - 3 = asks about opener's side suit. Game forcing. Opener bids:
      3         = 4 Diamonds
      3         = 4 Hearts
      3         = 4 Clubs
    • ... - 3// = to play 
  • 3// = 5-5 shape and 14-16 HCP
  • 3        = 6+ Spades and 14-16 Spades
  • 4// = 6 Spades and 5 of the suit bid and 14-16 HCP,
        Alternatively, may be long Spades and a void in the suit bid.

Responder's bids after 1 - 1N - 2:

  • 2 - 2 = relay, 7+ HCP. Opener rebids:
    2 -  ... = relay to 2
    ...  - 2 = accepting the relay
    2N -  ... = 5 Spades, 4 Clubs, 15-16 HCP
    3// = 5 Spades, 4 //, 17+ HCP

    2 -  ... = 5+ Spades, 11-14 HCP
    2N -  ... = 5 Spades with 5-3-3-2 and 15-17 HCP
    3// -  ... = 5 Spades, 5+ of suit bid, 17+ HCP.
    3 -  ... = 6+ Spades, < 3 Hearts, and 17+ HCP
    3N -  ... = 5 Spades with 5-3-3-2 shape and 18-19 HCP
