Pick-A-Slam

If partners have shown possible slam strength but not agreed on the best suit and bidder does not have a strong preference, he can jump to 5N to ask partner to pick a slam. This implies that the bidder is not interested in a grand slam.

Example: Bidding goes 1N-2D (tsfr), 2H-5N. If responder had bid 3N, it would show a 5-card heart suit and enough for game. Opener can either bid leave it in 3N or correct to 4H. After the 5N bid, opener can either bid 6H or 6N or in case of an unusual hand, 6 of some other suit.

A jump bid of 5 of an agreed-upon trump suit, when the opponents have bid a suit, asks partner to bid slam with a control in that suit, with the possible exception of over an opening preempt.

See Manufactured Bid for a little twist on this.
