Splimit Bids

Splimit bids are Splinter Limit Bids by opener in support of partner.

When you open a minor and partner bids a major and you have a hand with which you would normally splinter (with 4 of the major, a singleton or void, and 17+ HCP) but you don't have the necessary HCP for something like 1 - 1 - 4, you can make a Splimit Bid instead: 1 - 1 - 3, making a jump-reverse to 3 of a singleton/void in a suit higher than your minor and lower than partner's major.

Note that 1 - 1 - 3 is not a Splimit Bid because the suit bid is lower than your opening suit. Likewise, 1 - 1 - 3 is not a Splimit because the suit bid is higher than partner's suit. These are strong jump-shifts.

With hands like these, you have to make a normal limit bid like 1 - 1 - 3 and you don't get to show your short suit.
